Any Mozarella experts out there?

The mozarella cheese I seem to get these days is not stringy like it used to be? Is there a brand which is stringy like it should be in Italy?

ribzuba, Jan 31, 11:57pm
yes...you have to pay a bit more for it though, or go to a cheese mongers

"a cheese mongers" ... now where would we find him/her in NZ I wonder?

winnie231, Feb 1, 12:17am
There's a Cheesemongers in Christchurch actually.
And they do mail order...

Look for Italian buffalo milk mozzarella. In Auckland the Rustichella brand is sold by New World, Countdown and some branches of Fruit World. It's quite expensive but extremely delicious.

you are quite right, just as there are also fish mongers ie: someone who sells fish.

Clevedon buffalo mozarella is lovely, if you have not tried it.

http://www.clevedonbuffalo.co.nz/and yep, it is made in NZ from their own buffalo milk.

I've had the Clevedon buffalo mozzarella four times in the past year or so and every time it was disappointing - slightly chalky and lacking in flavour.I much prefer the Italian buffalo mozzarella, which is no more expensive.

The Clevedon buffalo milk yoghurt is wonderful though.

Thats interesting, I have enjoyed it each time I have had it, I cant say I found it chalky. Sally, I see you are in Greytown. Next time you are down petone way, pop into La Bella Italia, Antonio has wonderful mozzarella

Will do and thank you for your help. Will try Main Street deli here too. Sally

Will have to try the Clevedon buffalo mozarella myself.

Trade Me is all about 'mongers', winnie :)

Each of us with feedback beside our names is a 'monger' - "someone...with an inventory of goods to be sold [synonym: trader, bargainer, dealer]"

There are also a few bad mongers...war mongers, rumour mongers and the like...

Words are endlessly fascinating - especially after midnight ;)
