if its going IN the mixture i use fresh, otherwise if its just for the coating then i use dry

No bread crumbs in my hamburgers either. Probably depends on the recipe you follow.

None in mine.There's no need unless you want to economise on meat, in which case some grated carrot and some egg would be better than breadcrumbs.

I prefer the addition of eggs and breadcrumbs. The hamburgers are more tender.
