http://www.norpro.com/store/products/universal-3qt-ss-double-boiler great because it will fit any size saucepan

The idea of one of these would be ideal, but would be too expensive to purchase one from here. Our local Kitchen shop had something similar a couple of years ago for $49.I may give them a call to see if they can get me one. Thanks

I got one at Moore Wilsons a year or so back.Expensive but it was a treat to myself and I'd wanted one for ages. It's a Scanpan brand.

cookessentials, Jan 7, 11:13pm
Did they give you a price then?

clair4, Jan 7, 11:21pm
Apparently they do not make them anymore and the shop does not have one now. They do have a double boiler on sale for $99 with 25% discount, so I can buy it for $75.00.May go and have a look next Monday.I may take in a favourite pot and look at the stainless steel bowls.

I meant the people with the universal one.

Used to make lemon honey in d/boiler, but found this microwave recipe and the lemon honey is delicious and quick and easy to make.
4 eggs,1/12 cups sugar, 100grms butter cut into small pieces, grated rind and juice of 2 lemons. Wire whisk eggs and sugar in microwave safe bowl till creamy. Add butter, lemon juice and rind. Cook on high for 8-10 minutes. Stir till smooth. Rest for 5 mins then pour into clean warm jars. Seal when cold.

Yes - I've wondered about the availability of double boilers as I haven't seen them for sale anywhere for years. I fortunately bought a set years ago and have used it often. Probably fetch a good price on TM - but its not for sale!! I like the idea of the one you suggest tho cookessentials - excellent the way it would fit most pot sizes.

cookessentials, Jan 9, 12:18am
Yes, although it does not have a lid, but for most things you would not need one. Must see if I can get a price

I have a nice round bottomed basin that my whisk fits nicely in, over a pot. Cost me nothing and works a treat.
