Gosh, I have not bought arrowroot biscuits in years. Doesn't it bug you when they do that? Don't fix what aint broken I say. Bought biscuits are WAY smaller too. I saw and advertisement last week for chocolate coated gingernuts!! - how gross.

Well that sounds yuk. I love griffins arrowroot biscuits and have to go to the kiwi shop (about 1/2 hour drive in perth) to get them. Other than the fact they are about $3 a packet. They just don't taste right anymore. What a waste of money.

dezzie, Jan 7, 6:21pm
Probably changed the recipe to use palm oil instead of butter...lots of biscuits have changed, gingernuts are revolting now as well.

vashti, Jan 7, 6:37pm
I dont think they are the same either, I used to enjoy them but for quite a while now they have beendry and tastless.

Well that is bizarre timing for this posting.

Just last night I was giving out supper to our Hospice patients and I offered a plain biscuit to a patient who was feeling a little unwell but wanted 'something in her tummy'.

We always give out homebaking but have a jar of Superwine and Arrowroot.Gave her an Arrowroot and she immediately said 'Yuk" - what have they done to Griffins Arrowroot?I tried one out of curiosity - haven't had one for year and agreed.YUK.............

cgvl, Jan 7, 9:53pm
they have changed the malt ones as well, absolutely revolting. I haven't tried the arrowroot ones but I do know Arnotts ones are very thick and glugy.

marcs, Jan 8, 1:49am
I don't like arnotts arrowroot because they are too dry but that is all you get in Auz. Even saw that the malt biscuits had changed shape.

What a shame, arrowroot and malt were really nice.I'm disapointed to hear that, shame on Griffins.

trish441, Jan 9, 4:11am
All the Griffins biscuits have changed. My favourite was the Swiss Cremes and my husband loved Cameo Cremes. They are completely different now, bloody discusting.Has someone bought Griffins out perhaps?

letitia, Jan 9, 4:38am
I haven't bought biscuits for well over a year now because they are just not worth it.I haven't missed them at all.

jubellsrose, Jan 9, 6:36am
thinking of doing the same letitia.#1. yes the milk arrowroot are now round and don't taste right.I thought it was because I had a packet stored in a different plastic container but then a 2nd packet also tasted plasticy(sp).

cgvl, Jan 9, 8:52am
no longer being made in NZ is the conclusion I have come to. I may be wrong but why change something that aint broke.

korbo, Jan 9, 9:53am
yipee, i found some OVAL shaped arrowroot at the Hastings Warehouse. and they tasted like the old ones. wished i had bought all the packets. cant remember what brand they were, but had not seen the brand before. they really were like the old ones.
super wine taste like cardboard.
HAVE A GOOD look on the packet and see if you can see where they are ACTUALLY made.......?????

I think they haven't been the same for years and neither have malt biscuits - they are horrible now too.Even the vanilla wine biscuits aren't the same any more and I have almost given up buying biscuits - which is a good thing!

wildflower, Jan 10, 3:21am
No doubt made off shore now to keep costs down, like Cadbury's.I only buy biscuits if I need them for a recipe, so usually only a few packs a year and often as not gingernuts for crumble or cheesecake base.

radiodanny, Jan 10, 4:15am
wow, the plain biscuits are terrible now!Dry and brittle and sawdusty and they even look horrible, the wine biscuits have got weird thin edges on them, they are a peculiar colour and the decorative stamp on them is off-centre and wonky. The whole biscuit (arrowroot, round wine, super wine, vanilla wine), are thin and lacking in flavour. It's as though they have not only changed the recipe but changed the machinery as well so the biscuits look awful.Obviously plain biscuits are supposed to be dry, but these are not nicely crispy-dry, but yuk-dry.Arnotts plain biscuits are 100% better looking - their arrowroot is a large nice-looking oval biscuit, twice as thick as the Griffins. Also a bit dry/hard in texture, but a great dunker. Can't dunk a Griffins, they are too thin, dry and gutless.

i find with the plain biscuits as you are talking about the home brand is awesome nice, fresh in flavour and also sweet with the original taste or budget.. So secret is stop buying the big names and get the house brands or else just figure out how to make it yourself..

gotland3, Jan 12, 8:38am
Malt biscuits ,last time i checked were made in Fiji. The malty taste has gone. My Mum always made our birthday cakes with malt biscuits spread with choc icing and left overnight, covered. No fridge in those days.

korbo, Jan 12, 8:44am
#17...sawdusty..that is the flavour i have been trying to get my head around.
agree all the old name bis are just uneatable.wonder if they have cut down on sugar or something..
for fudge and lolly cake, i find a good dash of vanilla helps the taste

Glad its not just me. The Swiss cremes are bloody awful. They used to be a dense and smooth biscuit with the vanilla cream, but now they taste the same as those really cheap and nasty brands. The biscuit has a very strange texture, almost airated, absolutely no substance to it. I have a sweet tooth , but these biscuits have sat in the cupboard for over 6 weeks now because eventhough I am desparate for something sweet with my cup of tea, These are so horrible I will go without anything sweet, I am going to toss them , they are truly that Awful.

I like the wine biscuits but this last batch is not the same.....as with the cameo biscuits. what's up with the flavours..... NONE of the biscuits that all my family have enjoyed over many years are the same. Its a change that is not for the better. Very disappointed. Whether its on special or not, its off our shopping list.
