No sign of it in my supermarket. Has anyone seen it anywhere?

Most big supermarkets stock it - mine is in a jar with a red lid - Greggs I think.

Treat it like gold Tixy - Foodtown/Countdown didn't have any today. I'll try NW later this week.

If you want some BJ, I can send you some. I did this for another TM member a few months ago. Large bags in Moore Wilson. Cant remember the price but can let you know.

When you have ground spice with a best-before in the 1980s, you're in trouble. However, whole spices last just about forever if they're in a sealed jar in the dark.Didn't they find still-potent spices in Pharaoh's tomb?

Some of mine were close to the 1980s! Thanks Cooks but I only need a smidgeon so I might visit Kirinesha!

Dazz, try that bulk foods shop in Mt Eden, corner of Walters Rd and Dominion Rd, down a little drive next to Wendy's.They have most spices in small bags.Or I can pick you up some when I'm there over the weekend.

Yes, Mallee. DT4 - thanks I'll give that a go - is that where you get that beautiful dried mint from?

They do sell it, but I normally buy it from Khyber Spice Traders in Sandringham.I dare say it's all from the same supplier. If you're buying dried mint get a reasonable quantity as it tends to be used by the tablespoon. It's cheap.

I buy mace from Moshim's in Durham St although I see you are in Auckland and also only want a little. I went on the hunt for it after not being able to find it in any supermarket. I think Moshim's are also in Auckland? The herbs and spices there are considerably cheaper than the supermarket also cashew nuts and any other kind of nut you want. I also shop there as it is always busy and the turnover is fast so stock is 'fresh'.

I got in in Bin Inn (Blenheim) the other day.I'm sure most Bin Inn stores would have it.It was in a plastic bag, not a bulk container,

Thanks DT4 - got it! That little shop is really good; even better if you eat grains and all that stuff!

just use nutmeg. Mace is just a little bitter, compared to nutmeg. If you intend to use a lot then it would be worth the expense. You would buy it bulk from a bulk food outlet maybe?.

I have hunted for mace for the past few months and have not be able to find in any countdowns or new worlds either I honestly dont think they want to stock as I have been in Roturua/Hamilton and found none.
