You can use the apple corer,peeler,slicer for potatoes as will which will give you the same spiral effect as in the above picture.

I have one of these I bought overseas last year but have never used it. How do you cook the potatoes once you have spiralled it? I don't want to deep fry it- spray with oil and in the oven maybe?

You put a skewer thru it and deep fry, got 2 plastic spiral cutters at Emundi market in Aug $5 each, can buy them cooked in my town with sprinkle over them yum

You will find that many of the items you see on Australian Masterchef are not get available in NZ...it takes anything from 6 months to a year for items to filter through here, unless someone here brings them in themselves.

i saw these being made at a fair yesterday, but the lady said she bought the machine from sth africa. they were $40 i recall. then they deepfried the curly spud on a skewer.
