Ah like I say. It was tricky but the fact that it could defy gravity helped. And remember, it was enormous. So I shook each of its three left feet, one at a time. I had to say, "How do you do? Pleased to meet you Mr cocky" three times. He was very polite and responded nicely, each time.
You'd think it could have left a note to say thank you for the nice dark place I provided under my suitcase to rest for the night. But good manners are flying out the window these days. Just look at all the people who don't say thank you on these boards.

Oh no trick. Just have to be delerious from 8 hours of low air pressure flying, jet lagged and completely out of it from having two bottles of French champagne 'forced' down ones throat by kindly cabin crew in First Class. It helps if you are a little cross eyed as well. Ah those were the days.
Also helps if the cockie is looking for a snug place to bed down for the night. They tend to be much more gracious at that time, especially if they have recently been to a good restaurant for dinner.
You should try it one day.
