Interesting "diet" tich50 - and I hope it works for you - however I do not believe that your post has anything to do with "low GI diet" - which is the title of this thread.

That's the point, pixiegirl. You've got it in one! It's the internet, TradeMe messageboard, no names, no access to relevant qualifications, and you might as well ask the stranger sitting next to you on the bus on the way to work.
But if it works for you, that's entirely your choice.

Well I had to inject insuline (what a laugh watching my older 4 teenage kids wince at me stabbing my huge belly with bubs #6 inside~!)However thankfully the diabetes is gone.Have been warned/threatened by the North Shore Hospital specialist that if I ever put on weight (ie, get fat) I will most definately be a permanent diabetic.I've had the reverse happen though. Now my baby is actually 2 & 1/2 yrs I've gone from 73kgs to 66kgs in just 4 months with NO diet change at all ... ! (just bucket loads of stress re the family, blended and otherwise). That's why I'm very interested in a HEALTHY diet and I know from what I read on here that there are certain posters on here (davidt4, uli, buzzy to name but a tiny few) who really know their salt.
I will endeavour to try this type of diet - although it's going to be hard ... I DO so love to dip my bread in my homemade soups:-(

Darling Mole - you can dip "other stuff" into your soups! I promise you will never feel like you are missing out...
However try and get over to our "dark site" - look up the recipes and go from there.
If you have any questions start your own journal or ask wherever appropriate and everyone will be helpful - very good luck to you :)

darlingmole, you know the diet we are all advocating is brilliant and most of us are using it for weight loss as well. I, personally am using it to reverse the effects of 10 years of living by the conventional wisdom that restricts fats, red meat, eggs, protein in general and instead says to eats lots and lots of grains and potatoes.
I figured I was too young for all of that nonsense so returned to my previous 10 year diet of Atkins, with modifications plus lots and lots of reading. I'm now in fantastic health with no lasting ill effects luckily.
Now what I am trying to say, is if you are already in good shape and at a weight you are comfortable with, then you can afford to be a little more relaxed about what you eat.
Just bear in mind that while our bodies need fat, if you eat high fat high carb combinations you will put on weight, get high blood pressure and leave yourself open to diabetes. However, eating a diet that is rich in fresh vegetables, fresh animal protein (beef, lamb chicken, fish, eggs, etc) real natural fats and oils, and some nuts, seeds and full cream dairy is still very important. Limiting the amount of grains you eat to a level that we actually evolved to eat, which really isn't very much but we did eat it, and trying to cut sugar out of your diet completely, except maybe for celebrations like Xmas, birthdays, Easter, etc is definitely the best option for maintaining your health as well as a healthy weight.
