most hardware places have a product - think its called " no ants" . It is a small bottle of black liquid that you pour into little containers that come with the product . Place a few of these around areas you see them coming in , they drink it and take it back to the nest to feed their " friends " ! ! you only need to top up the containers every 3 months or so I find so the little bottle lasts for ages .

Need to share this... . .
We had ants then suddenly there were not any for a while but then at that time we had cockroaches, (they love ants), then a short while later, they to started disappearing, Avondale Spiders started appearing, yep apparently large spiders loves cockroaches, now the ants are slowly reappearing... . Hmmmmm
I just use the fly spray and spray the ant tracks or the ant trails or simply smear Janola or similar around.
Oh, spiders too do not like fly spray and cockroaches does not like the short green cucumber skins.
Cheers.

I moved to Auckland - had never experienced ants - YUCK... But this process worked for me.
When an ant trail was found in the house, I would follow it back to its point of entry... I would then 1. spray the surface with fly spray, 2. dust up the dead ants, and 3. put a piece of blue tak over their point of entry.
Eventually, the only place that ants entered was in the bathroom. I had an overflow drain in the floor of the bathroom (like there is in the shower, but in case an occupant had a flood)... the ants would come up there, about once every six weeks, I would squirt with fly spray.
My flat was ant free! ! !

If you have ants coming up the floor waste of the bathroom there is either no trap or the trap have dried up
you should be able to pour water down the trap and the ants will stop
If not there is no trap installed and is probably illegal

Over the years we have tried everything, including a commercial pest company. Nothing has worked for any length of time. The automatic sprays are good at stopping the ants coming into the kitchen, but don't deal to the source of the problem. The ant man said the nest was probably in the wall or under the Batts. I hate ants ! !

We had ants in our last house, then I saw in a magazine to scatter whole cloves around where they trail and hey presto no more ants. Apparently ants despise the smell of cloves and it sounded so simple I was a bit sceptical but it sure worked, never had ants again after doing this.

We have been using the Raid ant liquid which comes in a red squirt bottle. I put it outside in small jam kar lids ( out of the weather) it is amazing just how many ants flock to the dish. We very rarely get them inside, however, I am sure we have them in the wall and perhaps ceiling of the laundry as every so often, we can smell them. I will continue with the liquid regime and see what happens. We also get them in our garage which is the original 1930's affair without a concrete floor and they are especially bad there. First time Brian parked his sports car in there, they were everywhere! - we jumped in the car to go off somewhere and they were jusy crawling over everything, it took us days to get rid of them all.

My husband years ago crawled around the house and siliconed right around the perimeter of the floorboards underneath. Have never had them back.

Yuck yuck yuck. have just moved in with my bf couple months ago and he has them so im sorting them out lol. yucky males just dont care!
The raid ant liquid in the red squirt bottle is absolute legend! get yourself some of that.
The ants all flock to it, then aparently take some back to their queen and kill her, or something like that. anyway dont get a big shock when you have lots flocking the area, give it a day and they will all be gone.
