Pipis off Papamoa beach

Should there be red parts in the pipi.I know that there was a scare some time before xmas.

The ones I have eaten had red parts. It is cockles that are grey coloured.

There is a shellfish ban on the coast in the BOP. I don;t think it has been lifted as it was only issued in November

I just checked here https://www.mpi.govt.nz/travel-and-recreation/fishing/shellfish-biotoxin-alerts/ There are NO current warnings. Information is updated weekly so a good place to check before shellfish gathering.

Think you will find its Tua tua's off Papamoa beach.Pipis are normally found in harbours but you do find a few towards the Mount coming from the dredge.And yes Pipis can have a red part.
