Look in secondhand hand shops for the old enamel ones - they are brilliant and last forever,. I have had my grandmothers for 40 years and still going strong, no idea how long she had it for first.

I inherited one of those & it's plenty big enough for a hogget leg & it's very sturdy.

I will have to go a-hunting for one to Dunedin, I want a big oval one and I'm sure someone will have one. thanks very much. I used to have one, but it ended up with a hole in the bottom from so much use, I probably should have got it welded. Bought a cheapo from the Warehouse in desperation one day, but it is very tinny and poorly made, the lid doesn't fit, keeps sliding off
