MKR. Semi

I am finding myself wishing that the judges would find a long blonde hair in their food. It annoys me so much that the blonde does not respect that s is preparing food for others and has her fringe and. half of a pony tail poised over dishes. Rant over. I want Jay and Sarah to be in the final but think they won't make it.

kaddiew, Dec 15, 7:47pm
I feel the same about the guy. Watching him run his fingers through the oiled cow pat on top of his head and then handle the food was just gross.

esther-anne, Dec 15, 8:14pm
Oh hells' bells - I hadn't noticed that kaddiew. Cow pat - well on reflection - yes! Apt description.

I am beginning to think that on the foodie shows covered hair and hands should become de riguere because the lack of hygiene is often appalling.

Anyway now my hope is that blonde hairs can still be discovered in the final. Yes you guessed it - I don't like that particular contestant but her partner is immaculate.

How mean am I ?

kaddiew, Dec 16, 7:08am
Agree, esther-anne - surely having hair firmly secured is just part of basic hygiene in a kitchen.

I haven't got any particular like or dislike for any of them; in fact with MC showing as well, I've been hard pressed to remember which contestants belong to which show!

esther-anne, Dec 16, 7:14am
Me too - just quietly. Put mine down to having lost the odd marble or two lately but that wouldn't apply to you I'm sure. I must be the matriarch of these forums *eek*

kaddiew, Dec 16, 7:59am
Quite a few of my marbles went AWOL some time ago, so you're not alone!

unknowndisorder, Dec 16, 7:55pm
Over it, not at all obvious. Has to be the last series, surely.

slimgym, Dec 17, 5:41am
strange to 2 judges gave the couple 8s when everyone else gave them 9s. I thought the two girls were looking very smug while preparing the dessert.

esther-anne, Dec 17, 12:49pm
slimgym I still can't shake the feeling that those scores are manipulated and will stick to my previous thoughts that the two main judges should not be privy to the guest judges scores and then they can't manipulate them and make the scores what they want them to be.

And, unknown disorder - what a tame ending I thought. Don't they usually have all the former contestants present as well cheering the couples on? It had no atmosphere of excitement no element of being enjoyable in any way whatsoever, no joie de vivre!

davidt4, Dec 17, 2:28pm
I haven't watched that episode yet, but your description fits the whole series very well. I've resorted to fast-forwarding through the first half hour or so and only watching what happens at the judging table.

kaddiew, Dec 17, 3:04pm
I think the choice of judges is at least part of the problem with this show. Even after 3? series, they're still lifeless, appearing almost socially awkward, and lacking the big personalities needed to keep the momentum going in what is, essentially, a game show with food.

unknowndisorder, Dec 17, 8:57pm
I stuffed up, thinking the programme I forgot to tape was on at 8.30, so switched to live tv around 9ish (I think it had been on at 7.30), just to catch them saying who had won.

TBH, that was probably the only reason I did end up watching the whole thing.

I did wonder where the American guest judge lives, as heard her talking about a bach, and thought that odd.

Bit flat out at the moment, but am following the thread lol

P.s. Don't bother typing my whole name, UKD is fine :) (way less a mouthful lol, unless you feel like using my real name, which doesn't worry me either - especially for those I have met) :) (p.p.s. Esther-Anne, I still want to come say hi again, but having a bit of a rough year, but nothing major lol) :)

samanya, Dec 18, 4:57pm
I agree re scoring & it was a tame ending.
We deserve more after watching for weeks! ;o)
For some reason I took a dislike to Will, probably because he was so very confident about his cooking prowess, which was pretty damned good but he told us all how good he was, 'ad nauseum', but on the other hand I didn't want the girls to win either, because they were the gatecrashers & I felt that they had an unfair advantage in not having to go through the instant restaurant thingy . I'm not sure that I'll bother watching again, because as you say it doesn't seem to be a level playing field.

esther-anne, Dec 18, 8:23pm
I love your nom-de plume UKL (Michelle) now that I know what it means. I must admit initially I did wonder what the heck disorder you might have. When we met I knew immediately why you use that and how you are not a bit disordered! LOL!
Sorry to hear you have had a bad year - ours has been tough too - at one time I thought we should move permanently to North Shore Hospital - happily things are getting better. Maybe in the New Year we can meet up again - I would love that.
Meanwhile to all who contribute here - what a source of enjoyment it is to me and I hope to all. We can grizzle, moan, complain, sometimes agree even, but we do have a connection, however tenuous it is
! Christmas is not always the happiest time for everyone - for me it means grief and has lost some gloss - but it also isn't the time to be selfish so I wish everyone here a joyful time and let's all come back next year and rubbish all the cooking programmes - 'cos we think we can do better!

esther-anne, Dec 18, 8:46pm
Samanya hi! I'm glad that someone agrees about the scoring - I get on this hobby horse of mine about it an d mostly no-one gives their opinon so I think I am getting it wrong, If I am, I wish someone would explain why my idea of fairer voting is not right.

Anyway - I have seen your posts in recipes and always enjoyed them. Just quietlly I think you are probably a very accomplished cook/
I always think to myself I won't watch again but lo and behold, the time comes, so am I - glued to the TV yet again.

wendalls, Dec 18, 9:01pm
Just so you know Esther Anne, I too always think the scores are manipulated. Totally agree with your thoughts. That is based on past series as I haven't bothered to even find out when this series is on. (not sure why I'm reading this thread!)
Good to hear your year is picking up. Merry Xmas to all!

slimgym, Dec 19, 3:41am
the scoring was so out there this time it was obvious, I liked will in the end, the two worked together so well. I thought the dessert let them down, she was such a good baker I really could not believe that they decided to cook it. They were very talented, why did they put that dessert up. Are they told what to cook

Missed seeing all the others come back. The father and the boyfriend? very lay back, like the girls have got this in the bag

samanya, Mar 29, 6:43pm
Thank you for your kind words (my nieces reckon I should go on MC or MKR, haaaaaaaa! They are only quite young & say that only because i cook what they love when they are here!
Sorry to read of your trials & tribulations this year . here's wishing you a great 2016.
