Soup spoons are made the shape they are for a reason. Do we drink soup from the side of the spoon or from the end of the spoon? I think the side but my friend thinks the end. ? V

Soup should be spooned away to the far side of your bowl/dish and drunk from the side of the spoon.

Val, I believe that the correct 'side' IS actually the side but I realise that that is not necessarily what 'we' actually do. :-))

apparently in polite circles, you scoop up the soup, away from you, from the far side of the bowl & that gives it time to 'drip' ... & then drink/eat from the side of the spoon . . that's how I was taught. . that's how the posh people did it in the Victorian age ... signed Mrs Beeton. ;o)
when push comes to shove ... does it matter?

I was told by my mum that you scoop the soup with the side of the spoon away from you and drink/eat the soup from the side if the spoon closest to you only so you dont burn your mouth on the hot soup. .
