These are the ones we tried to get for our store, but he is so busy that he cannot make enough to satisfy the American Market! They are quite exquisite. http://www.cookiemold.com/CookieMoldsBUTTERMOLDS.html

These molds would have been made with a laser cutter, now there is several of these machines being used in NZ, so I can not see a problem of getting your own design done here. Try (do I dare) [email protected].

As far as I know, they are hand carved and you need to use particular timbers to stop them tainting the food. House On The Hill also do them and we have had them for sale on trademe from time to time. They are a wood and resin composite though, however, they are taken from 16th century moulds.

It would be uneconomical to hand carve them in this day & age, the older ones yes would have been carved. A suitable NZ timber for these would be Kahikatea which was used to make the butter churns years ago, it is non toxic and suitable for food contact.

yes, I know. They make cake boxes in kahikatea.

Gene Wilson CARVES CUSTOM DESIGN COOKIE STAMPS & MOLDS ONLY DURING FEB thru JULY. They are indeed carved by hand - this is why he cannot supply us as he has enough work through USA orders.

Over 100 designs of hand carved cookie molds are offered by mail order: springerle presses (molds), cookie stamps, deeply carved wooden cookie molds for shaping holiday picture cookies of German springerle ("springers") with or without anise. All molds are solid hardwood and ever so slightly different due being individually carved. Perhaps read the site - this is why they are the price that they are.

Not quite as fancy pants as the hand carved ones (and probably not with koru etc. . ) but have a hunt around your local education supply stores - the sell embossing stamps for playdough! I have quite a collection. Actually, even better, have a look at your local stamping/scrapbooking supplies stores - the rubber stamps available would do the trick and there are SO many available! Trademe may have some listed too.

OK, just had a look at Rubber Stamps on TMe, and there are quite a few. Just make sure they are new!
