I don't, but picked up one of their recipe books many years ago. The food is delicious.

I've got a couple of their recipe books, as well. One was a freebie & the other I bought & they are good, aren't they?

Vegans Gentle World’s core purpose is to help build a more peaceful society, by educating the public about the reasons for being vegan, the benefits of vegan living, and how to go about making such a transition.
I think its amazing what a great flavour they get in their food considering they don't use onion or garlic

I have a recipe for fried onion rings in my Krishna cookbook.

That's interesting uli. It must be from a rather liberal branch of ISKCON , as onions and garlic are normally forbidden as they are thought to excite intellect and passion which interfere with meditation.

I love it davidt4 ". to excite intellect and passion which interfere with meditation. " Yes they would wouldn't they? Thinking about what to have for lunch or dinner ALWAYS interferes with MY meditation :)

A few years ago we had Christmas brunch with a family who are ISKCON members. The food was delicious apart from one festive treat, which was a bowl of iced water containing 1cm x cm x 5cm sticks of butter, which were eaten unadorned and whole.

After a quick google of ISKCON I can now see why I cannot sleep - it has nothing to do with my injuries . it is the ONIONS that make it impossible to think of anything other than next days dinner. add the garlic to that and there is the REAL problem.
I will go on a 1 month ISKCON diet I think .

Apart from the above post I am really concerned by the Food for Life idea that ISKCON has inspired, and sometimes sponsored.
The goal of the project is to "liberally distribute pure vegetarian meals (prasadam) throughout the world", as inspired by Bhaktivedanta Swami's instruction, given to his disciples in 1974, "No one within ten miles of a temple should go hungry . . . I want you to immediately begin serving food".
We have a very devoted devotee here in Whangarei - he was even up for some "person of the year award" (didn't win it though).
He is cooking his Indian fast food in a commercial kitchen and delivers it to kids at school so they have "some healthy food".
I used to have a list of the menu items, but it has gone from the puter, however basically he and his volunteers beg leftovers from the vege market and then cook stuff up to serve to school kids once or twice a week.
If he gets potatoes for example he will grate them and then deep fry them as potato balls. If he gets a mix of veges he will make pakoras and deep fry them. He makes pasta and tomato sauce into a "healthy" lasagne dish and so on.
always cringe when I read about his wonderful healthy food and how the kids learn how healthy food is being cooked (in overheated seed oils) - might as well eat McDonalds - at least they get some meat with it!
