Could be. I laughed like crazy when one of the nasties neighbours refused an offering of a NZ delicacy .she couldn't understand it .I could.

I remember that, not that the neighbour is overly pleasant either LOL So, I wonder if the two posters above are going to "spill" about the double "identity"! or maybe, just maybe, it is actually all above board and sanctioned by the powers that be! Different when posters only make up another identity so they can continue to be nasty on the boards, rather than for totally different ( usually business) reasons.drums fingers on chest, waiting for the hint at who it may just be LOL.

Probably uli in a pickle now cos it is not newsworthy.

You are right. Some are the same in real life, rude, condescending and very nasty. They seem to have an ever-changing following of hangers-on but no friends.

where did she go anyway!
doggitt,

She started a thread about a dodgy auction and got banned for it. Back in one month is my understanding.

So is Recipes a more pleasant place to visit than it was last year! I made a very tentative return for advice last week(thanks for your help)-tentative because in the past I wondered whether I'd stumbled into Parenting by mistake.
A big Thank You to those who give genuine advice-sometimes by reading others' questions I found answers to things I didn't even know I didn't know.

Yes, Donnabeth, I think it has improved. We still do occasionally get the nasties, but hopefully in the minority now. Most of us here are all happy to share and help with recipes and toher things when we can.

You cannot help to notice an improvement. I do wish you would stop referring to other posters as "nasties" cookessentials, that in itself is being nasty, isn't it!.

I agree. The air has certainly felt clearer in the last week or so.
kay141,
Feb 19, 12:22pm
Really! If so, why do we still have the same posters picking on others!
pickles7,
Feb 19, 12:27pm
It would be nice, if they didn't.
samanya,

What would you prefer! Antagonistic! Condescending! Presumptuous! Scathing! Know alls! There are far fewer that fall into those categories, than the genuine folk who wish to help without changing the lifestyle of others, fortunately.
kay141,
Feb 19, 2:13pm
Didn't what! Be rude! Condescending! Nasty! I think that is the natural way for some and I think we may be talking about different posters and their sycophants.
uli,

Know alls is reserved for knowsley of course :)

As the name suggests.
esther-anne,

Quite.I think pickles might be referring to what, in her estimation and perception are the majority of posters on here behaving badly.
The majority are referring to the minority who behave in the way so well described by samanya, further up the thread.
I would add 'lack of empathy' to samanya's list. An inability to be in the other's shoes and understand that there are 'learner' cooks on here - we all have to start somewhere -who the majority genuinely try to help.
It's sad when this minority of which I speak and whom I acknowledge have amazing depth and breadth of knowledge about food and caring for what we prepare are mainly so snide at others not nearly as accomplished.

I absolutely agree e-a and it is such a shame.I have learnt lots from posters on this Board but a couple seem unable to offer advice without trying to put the questioner down.I find that really strange - why would anyone want to come and help and then ruin all that with a snide comment!
samanya,
Feb 19, 3:40pm
Only to one or two .not me. Cap fit on any others!
samanya,

You have summed up, quite succinctly .well done. All I can come up with as a reason for that attitude is that it's trying to prove that they know best, why the need, I wonder! (with a minor element of 'psych' in my background, I can make an educated guess, but will refrain) Most of us don't have to try to prove anything to anyone, especially on a public MB, to people we don't know (or in some cases would never want to know) & let's hope this forum can get back to helping others in a common interest.
Esther-anne .good post & I'm sure you'd agree that whether we are starting out cooking or have been cooking for years, we can all learn something new, every day & that's what I have appreciated about this forum. The first time I posted here a certain 'bean-pod' jumped right down my throat & read into my post what was never there & I got a right bollocking! A bit scary for a newbie & it took me ages to venture here again & then I realised that I wasn't the only one who got 'the treatment' from that source.

yippee, turning the page

good onya pickles .elliehen will be pleased to know that she's missed by you & lots of others, huh!
samanya,

KNOWSLEY .stop it! ;o) You know heaps & help people heaps with your answers .right! uli tells us that she knows heaps & (insert appropriate word) & can be helpful but mostly, only to like minded people & only when she chooses to be helpful. We can't all run up the hill & milk a cow, or kill a Kune for dinner, you know!
