I saw parisian essence somewhere.I think it was Simplifood. It's a caramel used to make things dark. It's used for fravy and dark cakes.Leaving it out would be fine

I always have a bottle - don't use it a lot but its good to brown up gravy etc at times. Its made by Hansells and called 'Gravy Browning'. Underneath that in smaller lettering is: 'Parisienne Essence'. On the bottle it states it can be used for gravies, casseroles, soups etc and also for fruit cakes and steamed puddings. It has no taste and you only need a few drops usually. Normally easy to find in most supermarkets and in quite a big bottle - 130mls which lasts for ages.

Some supermarkets have it in the gravy section of the supermarket and some have it in the baking / essences section - check both.I use this product quite a bit and most times I never have any problem finding it.
