I want to purchase a waffle machine for my mother for Christmas. Can anyone tell me the name of a brand that works well! I've never made them but she loves them . so seemed like a good present to get her :)

I love waffles too and we brought one for the kids for christmas a couple of years ago.We gave up making waffles - we just use a pancake recipe now as the waffles never crisped up like they should. And I tried heaps of different recipes with different ingredients to get them crispy!(Breville)

brevlle here too. Waffles crisp when first out of the maker but do go soft when standing, it happens to pancakes and piklets too as its the steam/heat disapating (sp). I use the crispy batter but find in general I need a little more liquid than suggested . thiner batter. Oh and I don't muck about with 3 bowls I throw it all into one and mix. Occasionally i will beat egg whites seperatly but not often and it makes no difference at all. Crisp when I take out of maker but on standing they do go soft.

Glad to see this thread. I love waffles and have been wanting a machine for a while. Is there a recipe book with the waffle maker! The toaster idea is a great one too!

Ohhh - many thanks for all of the answers you've given me here. I REALLY really appreciate them very much. Will buy a Breville then . someone said I should get a Belgian waffle maker but it was very expensive. I always trust responses here :)

Sunbeam machine here, had it for more than 20 years and use it often, it is still as good as new.
