I am having trouble finding gherkin growers in Auckland, the only one I know of is the one in Riverhead which sells gherkins and tomatoes. I am trying to find another one as his gherkins are getting later and later each year and I usually buy lots (20kgs) to preserve in jars for the year.
Any help would be much appreciated! I have tried the yellow pages and google with no luck :(
Thanks!

I have just picked up some gherkins from riverhead today, this year they range from $2,oo kg to $10.00kg.I do not know of any others in auckland, however there is a growerinTauranga, they are auctioning them currently. The grower said that if the season continues to be humid and no rain the season could be over in a week or 2

Basically there are no real commercial gherkin growers in NZ anymore since no-one pickles gherkins here commercially since over a decade.
All our gherkins in the shops come from Eastern Europe or India - shipped into NZ in 1000l containers - and then get "bottled" here. The labels then read something like: "this company is NZ owned and operated" - sure! But not the gherkins.
Some small growers put a crop in here and there - but it is now hit and miss as gherkins need to be picked twice daily and the cost is too high and often they do not sell enough to make the picking costs worthwhile.
Gherkins are really easy to grow - so why not put some in yourself next year! Twenty or 30 plants are good. Pickle the little ones and eat the bigger ones as salad cucumbers. That is what I do every year :)

It's a shame you aren't in Hawkes Bay - I have been buying Gherkins from a local grower every week the last couple of weeks, and have bought another batch today! I have done a batch of little wee ones ($6 kilo) and a couple of batches of big ones (99c kilo) but am sticking with the big ones for the last batch. I can't wait to try them! Would love your recipe if you want to share it!

dirt bike sale / These days of austerity along with reiatlve stress about taking on debt, many people balk against the idea of employing a credit card to make purchase of merchandise or perhaps pay for any gift giving occasion, preferring, instead to rely on the actual tried and trusted technique of making transaction raw cash. However, in case you have the cash on hand to make the purchase 100 %, then, paradoxically, this is the best time to use the card for several motives.aiyi9527$$$$$
