"1 (23cm) flan case, baked"

Where can I get such item in supermarket?
It's just pastry, right?

These appear around christmas - in the bakery section with pavs, etc - not sure where you can get them year round.
They are more like sponge than pastry.

I remember being able to get them at the supermarket, but I don't think it is pastry, it's more of a spongey biscuit/cake case

I agree with the above two posters- i.e. a flan case is more like sponge than pastry, but not as soft and 'spongey' as an actual sponge.I too remember them being available at the supermarket - if you haven't already done so, I suggest that you have a look in these supermarket areas:International and Bakery (not where the actual supermarket's own baked goods are but where the ready made cakes, slices, etc. are).

Hope that helps.:-))
