making a choc/banana cake misread recipe and put 1 1/2 cup sr flour in it when it was supposed to be 1 1/2 cup flour with 1/2 t bp. Will it matter//

What do you think self raising flour is? It's plain flour with the baking powder added.

jase320, no - it won't "matter".
The usual substitute for self-raising flour is 1-2 tsp baking powder per 1 cup flour, so IMO your cake should rise more from using the sr flour than if you had used the plain flour and only ½ tsp baking powder.

Hope that helps.Enjoy your home baking.:-))

thanks 245sam, i was only worried as i know the 1 cup to 1 tsp to make self raising but with the baking powder being only 1/2 t and baking soda in recipe aswell thought it might come out floury (hope you know what i mean) but it was fine and yep BIG! :-)
