Not red wine drinkers in this house and we have friends coming to stay. I know they are Pinot Noir fans but I have no idea which ones are nice to have some on hand when the come. What are your favourites? TIA

I don't buy much Pinot Noir but I was told once that anything from Central Otago will be a good bet so I have always stuck to that. Otherwise further south the better.

I back up Mt Difficulty - that stuff is good. I also really like Stoneleigh's pinot noir, perhaps not quite as good but easier on the wallet affordable. :-)

Mt Difficulty is quite pricey but their Roaring Meg is damn good too.

yep - have to agree on Roaring Meg. Around $28 a bottle, but if you're lucky you might get it on special for around $23

How much do you want to spend?
Mt Dotterel 2008 $25-$35 ish a bottle
Elbows Bend $13 ish a bottle- both from Central Otago
Centrals Pinot's are my preference over Martinborough.
Have a look at Blackmarket.co.nzgreat selection, reasonable proces (cheap) 3-5 days for delivery. I has changed my buying habits! Cheaper than supermarket by a long way, but you have to buy a full or half case. Wines are rated by specialists and the public so you get some good advice before you make your selection.

Tohu, very nice Pinot

There's one called 'Domain Rd' that won (I think, from memory) Best Wine in the WORLD at a mega-International Wine Awards a couple of years back - the 2007 I think. Aside from that, I do agree with Tohu being excellent, and I like Amisfield as well. also Akarua winery does a great Pinot Noir.
