Good luck

purplegoanna, it is my understanding that "the real authentic ones" can be used on the stove-top for browning the meat, etc. then placed in the oven.I note that the info' for the Stevens special does not specify that they are stove-top safe so IMO one would need to err on the side of caution and not use it in that authentic way.:-))

They will be for inside the oven only. There have been a number of people having problems with Stevens ceramic ware cracking, so best be careful.

yip thats why i said theyre not the real authentic ones!

they have a sign in the shop saying not for stove top....underneath the price.

There are plenty of "real authentic" ones that are bot guaranteed for the stove top. I just wouldn't buy Stevens anything ( their own brand is cheaply made and cause more probems than they are worth)

Oh no, we have just bought two Circulon fry pans from Stevens!!.Do you think these are the real thing?

cookessentials, Jun 10, 7:58am
Yes, they are. Stevens used to buy all the good brands, but sadly have slowly replaced many of them with copies that they have made in China under the Stevens brand. You will find the Circulon pans are wonderful and will last you well.

The reason that the Stevens stuff is not such good brands now is because it has been sold and the 'Stevens' family no longer own it.

I bought a Stevens Tagine, left it on the stove top for two hours it was fine. Just keep the heat low. Lamb with preserved lemon tagine was sooo yummy. Cheap and effective.
