Samosas anyone tried?

Has anyone tried making samosas? Whats in the filling & are they deep fried?

I make Alison Holst's lighter version which is made with filo and baked in the oven - not the authentic Indian one, which I find too oily and gluggy.

I use homemade pastry cut into rounds. top with spoonful of vege (usually potato and peas) filling and fold in half. I also bake them instead of frying

Curried kumara/pumpkin/onion/peas makes a good filling too.
