hors d'oeuvres

MIL having a party this weekend, have to bring some hous d'oeuvres - would love to pick your brains about your most popular ones - recipes would be fantastic - ideas, great too

I wrap water chesnuts in streaky bacon, shove a toothpick through it and grill. Very easy.

To follow on from sumstyle's suggestion, try using prunes instead of the water chestnuts - also very easy, but best to serve warm not straight from the grill as the prunes tend to be VERY hot - these are known as Devils on Horseback - not sure of the origin of that name though but the alternative is Angels on Horseback which are oysters instead of either the prunes or water chestnuts.
