janet66, Mar 9, 9:53pm
but I have got cream of tartar and baking soda - I think this can replace bp but don't know the amounts (ie: 1 tsp of ct to 1/2 tsp bp = 1tsp bp). Can anyone help please?

teaspoon baking powder equals 1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

HOME-MADE BAKING POWDER - posted by and thanks to Trademe's juliewn

⅓ tsp baking soda
½ tsp cream of tartar
⅛ tsp salt

Use the above ingredients to replace 1 tsp baking powder – “I keep the ingredients separate in my pantry, and mix them as I'm making a recipe and find this gives a better result than purchased baking powder” – juliewn. :-))
