sear the meat, before placing in the slow cooker, add a pkt of chicken soup, 2 cups of water and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Take the temperature after 6 hours, I would remove the meat at 160%c . The soup etc will make a very nice gravy, or base for another meal. freeze once it has cooled.
I usually cook a whole rolled roast this way, it always turns out tender. enjoy

I just sear the meat well in my fry pan with a little lard or oil then sear a chopped onion and some garlic then deglaze the pan with some wine or cider.Add that to the slow cooker with salt and a handful of herbs like rosemary thyme sage etc. I dont add any extra water etc.

cook 4 hours on high or all day on low meake lots of gravy with the liquids at the end. A nice way to do beef.
