New to Jam making ....

just made some berry jam which was 1 kg jam sugar to 1 kg berries turned out fine, what I want to know is there a recipe that is less sugar ie can you do 1 kg berries to 500g jam sugar ? would it set the same??

It does depend on which berries you are using and how long you want your jam to keep!!!

I always use half the amount of sugar. I prefer a more fruit-flavour from my jams. I also prefer it slightly runny, so that you can use it for ice cream toppings, fruit pie fillings, crepes etc.

Too Sum up, yes It depends on the fruit, higher water content in fruit generally means your need more suger to gel and thicken/shelf lifeor if you want your cake and eat it too, you can also add arrowroot to thicken and lower the sugar content.
