Stewed plums ?

wanting to make a plum crumble, any help on how to prepare the plums would be great.

chop in half and take out the pip, put in pot with just a little water and some sugar,cook till soft. although I have been doing my crumbles lately without cooking the fruit first, and only having the sugar in the crumble as the sweetness.

I would leave the skin on, cook them a little with a small amount of sugar and cinnamon (just till hot really) then top and bake.I don't put sugar in apple or berry crumbles but find plums usually needa little.Cinnamon seems to go with them very well.
