I bought a Sunbeam 12 cup drip filter coffee maker today.Despite filling it to the maximum 12 cup level, the coffee pot is only half full when it is finished brewing.What am I doing wrong?Or is this normal?It is certainly not 12 cups.

Is there any water left up the top. Try adding less coffee and see what happens. Also when they mean cups it is usually small tea cup sizes.

hi.i'd suggest you're not doing anything wrong at all.I have the same size pot here and it does exactly the same thing.i'm pretty sure it's a safety thing as when the pot is full to the brim it's easier to spill the coffee and burn yourself.Also, i'm pretty sure the 12 cups refers to those small coffee cups which usually only hold about half a standard cup.just my thoughts, and could well be barking totally up the wrong tree.hope this helps anyway.
