Porcelain ramekins in the oven???

Are they safe to put in the oven. I dont want to make my creme brulee and then lose it when the ramekins break. The package says nothing about oven-proof.

I've used mine in there. try one without anything in it first.

I would expect them to be oven-proof, would be really cross if they were not - where else would you use them?

They need to be ovenproof if you are doing brulee or creme caramel...you do them in a water bath in the oven.

Isn't that what ramekins are for?

Doing them in a water bath then they wouldn't get hotter than 100 degrees therefore not really that much hotter than a dishwasher so you could use anything pretty much except some plastics.

Porcelain is fired (in kilns) at around 1300 degrees C so should be fine!
