No - they hang around here drinking nectar all winter. There is hardly a week with no flowers now, even all through winter - currently some of my plum trees are flowering! Not a good look for plums next year.

BTW - store your raw nuts in the freezer too

Storing open packets of Milo,Cocoa and Coffee etcin Fridge stops it from going hard...also nail polishstored in there makes it last for ever without drying out .

Glad I spotted this. uli, my plum tree has blossomed at the end of every summer for the past 6 years and it is driving me mad because not only does it blossom but it forms fruit as well, which, of course do not ripen because the sun hours are too short and it gets colder. Sadly it means I do not get many plums in the spring. I'm thinking of giving it the chop. Would a decent prune fix it do you think? The other plum tree didn't take too kindly to pruning and ceased producing altogether. Sometimes gardening is a mystery.

Edited to add, it is still in full blossom as I write this.

No.
It's just warmer than some areas. Today it was 10 degrees at 5:30am.
Auckland can get frost, piddly frost but still. Northland can get cold, just not real cold.
