Frozen strawberries for jam?

mercury14, Jan 11, 4:18am
Thawed out my lovely strawberries (6kg) for jam and then mashed them, they were in the freezer for 3 days, now I read the cookbook and it says I should have drained off the liquid first, oops. There was quite a lot and it was lovely looking so I did not want to waste it. So should I try to drain it or go ahead and cook with it still there. Thanks for advice.

cook it. weigh your berries water and all- add equal quantities of sugar.

add as much rhubarb as you like , helps make it set easily. up to a kilo i would say.

Thanks lilyfield for your help. Can I make it without rhubard? as I don't know anyone with any and really want to make this jam tonight.

you can do it without rhubarb, but good if you have some lemon(juice) to add, helps with setting also. Strawberries are a bit low in pectin.
