but I only have just under a half cup, its for a cake and I so dont want to go to the supermarket. Can I add butter to the oil to make up the cup needed?

I have done this before and it's been fine.I'm not sure whether it depends on the type of cake.I've done it with a carrot cake.

Me three, have added butter to oil numerous times to make up the difference and never a problem......so far.
