how do you cook pre-cooked sausages in a frying pan without them splitting. No matter what I try - slow cooking, fast cooking , little oil. lots of oil, turning lots etc they still split. C'mon give me a hint or something. I generally buy Hellers pre-cooked...maybe thats the problem.

Try cooking them in the oven

slowly, on low heat, or the oven

personally, I boil sausages, and then only need to brown in the pan.

Done the slow heat (ceramic oven top) in fry pan- they still split....even when I am extra carefull Last night 3 out of 5 split.

These are pre-cooked so I am presuming boiling doesnt help. All I am doing really is browning them.Could it be that these have been frozen and have thawed (slowly). But I have no problem with splitting on the BBQ....but I dont want to cook in the rain.

Use them in Devilled sausages ... or curry ... or sweet n sour ...
or filled ... or ... you get the drift!
No probs with splitting then.
