How to thicken Carmel for carmel slice?

just wanting to know how to thicken it? do i just cook it longer? or add something to thicken it?

I add brown sugar and butter, then bring to the boil and simmer for a bit

I always add just a small tspn of cornflour when I am cooking the caramel. When its cold on the base its firm and doesnt go all sticky and run off.

cool thanks for that when i usually make them they go all gooey and run away on me lol and i want it firm and yummy as it not for us! (sorry about the spelling in the first post! )

I use golden syrup, butter and condensed milk for mine.
