Scone makers..help please

when you make date or sultans scones, how do you keep the ones poking out of the dough from burning. Thanks

lol I do mine using the food processor. Add the dates at last minute and pulse to mix, so not chopped too fine, then add milk and water.
I also put them on the top or 2nd to top rung in oven, with oven at 220C for 10mins.
Never had them burnt like this ... . . had a baker tell me to try above way many years ago.

I poke them in with a point of a knifebefore baking

I pre cook my dates with little orange juice and they go in the middle of mixture like a sandwich, sultanas as the above poster says. .
