Haven't specifically looked for it there, but they do have it at most supermarkets.

Sure P-n-S has Arborio. If it is not in the rice aisle go and look on the shelves in the Serve Over Deli section. They have all sorts of rice for making all sorts of things. I have even seen it in the serve over fish section.

If worst comes to worst, you can ask in the shop or you can ring them up.

Rice is becoming very popular and paella and risotto are growing in popularity so it is in their best interests to sell it.

The proper rice for paella is Spanish Calasparra, a short grain type which is very absorbent and doesn't turn to mush easily. It is available in NZ from delis and big supermarkets and is expensive. Arborio is probably the next best kind but is not authentic. If you use Arborioyou need to be very careful not to stir the paella once the stock has been added as if you do you'll end up with a texture like a risotto. In paella the rice should end up with completely separate grains.

blossom I see you're on the North Shore. Go to Albany P'n'Save and once you hit the deli and the hot chickens it's smack next to that
