Custard...question?

When I make custard as per instructions on the packet it always sets with a film on the top after I've made it and poured it into a bowl to set as I like it thick not runny. How can I stop the film on the top.

push some gladwrap over the custard so it actually touchs, this should stop a film forming

Yes I put gladwrap onto the custard as well, lay it flat across the top of the custard. Seals out the air.

I do the gladwrap thing with both custard and gravy.

I agree with the gladwrap to stop the skin forming on the top...
Also, if the custard is thicker than you prefer, then either more milk or less custard powder...

or you can sprinkle with sugar
