Japanese cabbage dish help

water56, Jan 15, 2:49am
I recently dined at a Japanese restaurant and really want to know what the side dish they served with most things was. Im reasonably sure it was just cabbage, maybe pickled? and some sort or mayo dressing (thin, not thick and gluggy) Any ideas?

Was it bright green or the normal green of cabbage?

My thoughts too kirmag. If the "cabbage dish" was bright green maybe it was actually seaweed salad - similar to this.

Hope that helps water56. :-))

No normal cabbage looking. I actually thought it was lettuce to start with because it was soo mild. But im 99% it was just cabbage. Not crunchy, but not completely wilted either. My guess it was pickled, then dressed with a runny type dressing. The fluid around it was watery and whitish. It was so incredibly yummy I want to try make it.

water56, have you contacted the restaurant to ask what the "cabbage dish" was? or do you have access to their menu to see if the dish is named on the menu? :-))
