Hi Griffo, I Googled it and there are a heap of different recipes. The link below has one that has apple in it which may give it a more fruit mince texture - as for tast, I dont know.

Use mixed spice instead of allspice. It makes it sweeter.
I put it in mine and its lovely.

griffo4, have been looking through some very old cookbooks for a recipe korbo requested and found this 'Tree Tomato Chutney' you might like in a 1969 Wellington Community Cookbook:

TREE TOMATO (TAMARILLO) CHUTNEY
3 lb fruit skinned and chopped
Add 1lb chopped onions
1 & 1/2 lbs cooking apples, chopped cored and peeled
Mix then add 2 & 1/2 lbs brown sugar
1 pint malt vinegar
2 Tblsp mixed spice
1 Tblsp salt
1/2 tsp cayenne

Boil 1 hour. Makes 5 & 1/2 pints.

(Apologies for not doing the conversion to metric)

Thanks for that elliehen l will copy that and keep for when they come along
No problems about conversion as my scales does both, thank goodness
l found another recipe in Digby Law's book and it had dates in it so that would add to the taste
