Help with a pudding recipe please.

So Ive finally remembered the ingredients to my mums pudding recipe. Only thing is I dont know the measurements.
Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to how much sugar you should use per cups of flour?
The sugar will be heated and then coconut cream mixed in before it turns to toffee and then mixed with the dry ingredients.
I just have no idea how much sugar to use and dont want to waste sugar or ruin the pudding. Ive asked my family and they cant recall how much sugar to use either.
Also if it is say 6 cups of flour, how much nutmeg to add to the flour? eg Is it a teaspoon of nutmeg to a cup of flour.
