Recipe for a Mardarin & carrot jelly salad Please!

Hoping someone can help me, I have lost my late mothers recipe for this salad,( it is not made with jelly). If my memory serves me right, your boil the juice from the mandarin's with vinegar sugar and gelatine. Then add chopped up mandarins , grated carrot, & chives. It is really lovely with cold Ham, or any other cold meat.
