i find the easyest way is to get the sprinkle bags from the super market in the yellow packs . there are all sorts of flavors and the smoky ones are yummy you just need to use the bag which comes with it and cook at 180 for about an hour

Slow braised beef ribs.
Rub ribs with oil s/p and brown in a hot frying pan in batches, place incasserole.Dice a onion, carrot, stalk celery, 1/2 head garlic chopped, fresh or dried thyme, oregano, toss around in the pan to saute onion, tip vegs on to top of beef ribs. De glaze pan with 11/2 cups red wine, 2 cups beef stock heat through to get all the goodie bits off the pan pour on top of ribs and veg. Cover with tin foil and bake till cooked about 2/1/2 - 3 hours 160c. Remove meat which should fall off the bone, strain juice into saucepan simmer 5 mins to reduce down, and thicken with cornflour and drizzle sauce over beef ribs. Can be done like this in your crockpot also.
