Silly Q but is frozen yoghurt

just normal yoghurt popped in the freezer!. I buy the Piako gourmet frozen yoghurt, which I love, esp the lemon curd and passionfruit but $8 for 750g is expensive.

Found this one online VK which sounds quite delicious.

lcecream can be made 2 weeks ahead. Sauce can be made up to several days ahead, if desired.
INGREDIENTS

125g dried apricots
300ml thickened cream
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
200g natural yoghurt
3 egg yolks
¼ cup sugar
2 tablespoons orange curacao
125ml (½ cup) orange juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Orange liqueur sauce
6 oranges
2 tablespoons orange curacao
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons lemon juice

METHOD

Soak apricots covered in cold water 1 hour. Place apricots and water in pan, bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer 15 minutes or until apricots are tender; drain. Puree apricots in blender or processor. Heat cream, orange rind and yoghurt in pan. Beat egg yolks and sugar in small bowl with electric mixer until thick, gradually beat in hot mixture. Return mixture to pan, whisk over heat without boiling until slightly thickened. Stir in apricot puree, liqueur, orange juice and lemon juice. Pour mixture into loaf tin, cover with foil, freeze until partly frozen. Beat with electric mixer until smooth, return to loaf tin, cover, freeze overnight. Serve with Orange Liqueur Sauce.
Orange liqueur sauce: Peel oranges thickly, cut into segments over bowl, squeeze excess juice (you will need ½ cup juice) from orange membranes, stir in liqueur. Combine sugar and water in pan, stir over heat without boiling until sugar is dissolved. Bring to boil, boil rapidly 5 minutes, cool. Stir in lemon juice. Pour Sauce over oranges, cover, refrigerate.

To freeze: Freeze icecream covered for up to 2 weeks

I think I read somewhere that you whip it up in an icecream maker, and then put into your freezer

No it is not! Normal yoghurt, if frozen ends up with ice crystals! Store bought has gelatine and gum added to prevent this. As the above quoted site states.
