well I have a window but cant see through it as something has got between the two layers of glass so I know the feeling!

Seriously, I wouldn't have thought taking a peek would do any harm, it's not like a sponge cake, which I was always told right from a very young age, "you must NEVER open the oven door before it's cooked" because in those days there was no inner door, and the results "could" be disastrous.It's also possible they wouldn't be disastrous, but because we were threatened within an inch of our lives if we opened the oven door to peek, we just never did.
