And if it wasn't for the jelly I'd be wondering if the meringue was a meringue topping.I make a Hot Swiss Trifle which I actually prefer to the traditional cold version - it has sponge/Swiss roll, apricots or peaches, custard made with egg yolks (no egg whites), then the egg whites used for a meringue topping - obviously there's no jelly in that so like others I'm lost for a name for the dessert that canarylegs describes.It's not a normal/traditonal trifle or a hot/meringue-topped version and its definitely not Eton Mess, but no doubt it's some family's favourite.:-))
