Nice one for Christmas - easy as.
VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM

2cups cream or whipping cream

2cups whole milk

1cup granulated sugar

5 egg yolks
1 Vanilla Pod

Directions:

Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds, and chop the shell up roughly .

Heat milk and cream and the vanilla pod seeds and chopped up vanilla shellin a pot on the stove (med/low heat).
Whisktogetherin a bowlthe sugar and eggs yolks.
Stir 1 cup of the hot cream and milk into the bowl of sugar and egg yolks in a steady stream while mixing or whisking.
Add the contents of the bowl backto the pot on the stove and CONTINUE to STIRuntil it thickens.
Put the mixture into a bowl a. Cool.Cover with plastic wrap andandchill in the refrigeratorfor a few hours – overnight is best.
Before freezing, stir well, pour through a sieve to remove any large vanilla pod lumps, and pour into the ice cream maker. Freeze . Usually takes20 - 25 minutes.
Put the ice cream into your freezer.
