I have made my Christmas cake already.I was going to ice it but have decided not to.However I would like to put nuts on the top instead. If I warm apricot jam, spread that on top of the cake and put the nuts on top (which I will roast beforehand) do you think that will be OK!

You may be better to do that when you are ready to serve it. The jam would probably run off or make the cake soggy where it is sitting. Serve it with a pile of pretty glace fruits and yummy nuts - you could even set them in toffee or glaze them with some boozy jam and flame it!
