I love this slice thought you might too and it so easy to make.
3/4 cup Caster Sugar 2 T water 175 gms butter melted 1 & 1/4 cups of Cocoa (use Homebrand its the best cocoa powder) 2 t Vanilla Essence 1 & 3/4 cups of ground almonds 1 whole egg 1 egg yolk 200 gms shortbread (I use Couplands)
Grease and 18cm Cake tin lined with baking paper.
Put the sugar & water in a saucepan stir over low heat till sugar dissolves. Set aside to cool.
Beat the butter cocoavanilla essence together until smooth and gradually stir in the cooled sugar syrup ground almonds whole egg and egg yolk.
Once well mixed stir in the roughly crushed shortbread biscuits.
Press into the prepared tin and refrigerate overnight. Cut into small pieces to serve as it is very rich.
Sometimes i add hazelnuts as well.
